Some interesting combos!

Committee 4- with a nice light nippy bow Good to see John Q and Chris elevated to Prima Donna status! Because of a recent back problem Nicolette is advised to scull rather than sweep oar. What better way to start out with John B in the double?! Nicolette, you have corrected your slow hands away. Well done.

Doug and Danie were scheduled to have a tank session with Allie next Sunday at 07:30. When on the bank I can see some interesting things I miss from the coxswain’s seat of the eight. I regret, however, that I will not be able to attend on the 30th. We will make another date.

We have a new prospect coming down on the 30th at 08:30. A Parktown mommy. We need her so that we can boat a Masters Woman’s 4x with Catherine, Nicolette and Margaret. Please be sure to welcome her and give her initial instruction in the tank. I know the tank is only for sweep oar but that is where she needs to begin.

It was good to see Catherine and Doug back in action after their hibernation!

Johnnyie was in invisible mode but I picked up his puddles as he skimmed around in front of the boathouses. He had negative run and that is difficult in a single sculling boat!

Head race:

Next Saturday, 29th, on the Vaal River at Vereeniging a head race is scheduled. Peter H has a crew entered. If you are interested and can raise a crew or want to 1x, no eights I believe, contact our Captain

Teatime:

Fabulous cakes from Lennie via Johnnyie via Nessie. Thanks for that.

Noble responded to the Vet’s treatment and was fully recovered from his digestive problem, seeking favours from all and sundry to satisfy his bottomless pit!

Next up on the cake roster is Graham, changed out with Colin who was scheduled for the 30th. The following Sunday, 6th September is John B.

I will not be in attendance next Sunday as tea boy so I hope somebody will pick it up.

Maintenance:

Thanks to our Captain , Electra has finally been taken to John Waugh. Bill has secured for us a splendid bargain of a 15HP Sail (Yamaha made in China} O/B motor complete with water worthy rubber duck for R 10 000,00. Both items as new and Bill wants us to run the motor, which came with a full tank of fuel, with an extra 100ml of two stroke oil for the first tank full to ensure protection for the running in period.

He is attempting to find a buyer for our 25HP Yamaha O/B motor, which will hopefully offset most of the cost of the above. We are now in a position that we no longer need licensed skippers to pilot our 25HP motorboat to comply with the new regulations. We now have a very neat combo of rubber duck, O/B motor and trailer for ready transport to Roodeplaat or other venues where we may wish to coach our crews.
