TO ALL WEMMER MEMBERS

On the water:

Dragon boats – Yuk!

Can you believe it, the 51st Wemmer Sprint gets the worst recorded weather conditions in its history and the Dragon boats, 2 weeks later get the best conditions ever. Something to do with the Chinese Yin and Yen!

Danie 1x 2-

*Beginner: After her first instruction session in the tank the previous Sunday, Elra had her first go on the water in Herbert Shield and acquitted herself with distinction. Good to have you on board Elra

Reveling in the superb conditions the 8+ had a good outing beating the targets of 19 mins for two laps at 20 spm by 26 seconds and the course target of 1:55 by 8 seconds and 8 bust guts!! The reason for their success was that they had challenged Laurance and Dom in the 2- and were incensed when Allie suggested that the 8+ should get 20 strokes start on the 2-. They started level. The Fire Dept., in attendance for the Dragon Boats scene, went onto Red Alert when the two boats finished their race before they realized that it was steam and not fire coming from the crews! That 2- like Robert in his 1x, never ceases to astound me

Simon and Johnnyie were on and off the water setting up our degenerate fleet of doubles and single sculls. It certainly is good to have members wanting our equipment in ship shape condition and to help in that connection. As you will have read in the attachments to the last News Letter there is a great deal to be accomplished. We all need to do our bit in keeping this situation under control

I think that Prima Donnas Rod and Shaun had about 5 goes down the course together accomplishing some PD ritual!

As far as the remainder I fear I have no tales to tell except that none overtook us on our steady state!

Teatime/ Gauteng Schools Champs:

Turned into coffee time in the Pub because of Dragon Boat activities. There was no cake

Because of what is happening at the Pan with Gauteng Schools Champs which have been moved from Roodeplaat, yet again, because of hyacinth weed problems I am moving Dieter to the 15th November and Ralph to the 22nd November on the cake roster

The Champs will take place on the 31st Oct. and 1st Nov.2009 so write off both days for your personal rowing at the Pan

Frantic efforts are being made to provide a rowing course to handle the Champs at short notice. Training during the week afternoons may also be hampered for those that use the water for that purpose because of course installation

Keep fit

Allie
